Over the last couple years of my life I have been developing more and more panic and anxiety attacks due to the amount of stress in my every day life, and since I am into alternative medicines I like to use natural herbal remedies to help relieve my stress from my every day life so I do not have panic or anxiety attacks. For those of you out there suffering from panic and anxiety attacks due to stress, or even depression and sadness, I have found and done some research, and even tried myself some of the best herbal remedies out there to help ease away panic and anxiety attacks.
The first herbal medicine I will tell you a little bit about that seems to help with mild panic and anxiety attacks caused by stress and depression is St. John’s Wort. A few years ago I had some mild depression that caused me to be sad all the times, and made me really fatigue and annoyed at life in general. I didn’t want to go on any prescription drugs because they tend to have some serious side effects such as becoming addicted to them. Well at the time I was studying herbal medicine and discovered St. John’s Wort and asked an herbalist about the herb and did some research. It turns out St. John’s Wort was used to help ease away mild depression because it contains chemicals in it called hyperforin and hyperacid, which helps cause a placebo effect causing less serotonin being released into a person body, which basically helps them to become happy again. St. John’s Wort comes in the form of teas and herbal supplements pill that can be taken daily to help ease panic and anxiety attacks, however I would recommend you talk to your doctor first before taking this herbal remedy to help ease your panic and anxiety attacks that are cause by your mild depression and stress because it may interact with a drug you may already be on. Some other things to think about when taking St. John’s Wort is it does contain some side effects like if you take to much of it, it can be toxic, and make your skin and eyes sensitive to lights. I know St. John’s Wort worked well for me, but after awhile of using it, it kind of began to upset my stomach and I had become really sensitive to sunlight, but over all it did help ease my mild depression and eased away my panic and anxiety attacks.
The second herbal medicine I will tell you about and love to us all the time when I am simply stressed out and having very small panic and anxiety attacks is lavender. Lavender has a nice floral relaxing aroma to it that helps promote calmness just by smelling the aroma of the lavender herb itself. The form you can get lavender in are organic lavender essential oils to use in candle burners and baths, and in you can pick them as flowers and place them in a vase to help lightly scent the air of your home or office with the nice light calming lavender aroma. You can also find lavender in bubble bath salts and liquids and in body lotions to wear. I know I personally keep soy lavender candles and hand lotion around so when I am feeling a little bit stressed out I can light a candle or put some lavender hand cream on so I can breath in a nice calming lavender aroma that helps me relax again and focus on what I am doing in my life instead of what is stressing me out. However, I wouldn’t recommend you use lavender internally because it can be very toxic.
The third herbal medicine I recently started using for my server anxiety attacks and depression is Kava. Kava is from the root of a kava plant which releases chemicals such as pyrones and kavalactones that help relax the body, mind, and spirit. The forms you can get kava in are supplement pills and teas. The form I prefer to take is the tea form of kava because it works faster and is a lot safer than taking the supplements. The kava tea I like to drink is Yoga Kava Stress Relief Tea. The way I make it is simply by boiling some water on top of my stove and than by simply pouring the boiling water over a kava tea bag in my tea cup. After I let the kava tea steep and brew for about 10 minutes to make sure I get all the calming and relaxing chemicals out of the tea bag, and than I simply sip on the tea until my server anxiety attacks go away. However, kava does have some server side effects to it such as it can cause liver damage when you take to much of it, and does interact with pain killers such as Aleve, Tylenol, Aspirin, and Excedrin. I highly recommend you talk to a doctor or herbalist before taking this herb to relieve your server anxiety attacks caused by your bad depression. I will say that kava has been my life saver lately for my bad anxiety attacks and depression. When I drink a cup of kava tea I feel immediate relief, but it does leave my mouth feeling tingly and numb. It also seems to leave with a light airy feeling that makes me feel like I have been drinking so I wouldn’t recommend driving a car after drinking a cup of kava tea. I will also say it is a wonderful alternative medicine to take for depression and sever anxiety attacks, but you really need to take it in moderation whish is why you should visit your doctor and ask him if it is okay for you to take and what is the best dosage for you. I know I weigh about 110 pounds and 1 cup of kava tea is plenty for me.
The forth and last herbal remedy I like to use when I am suffering from insomnia and panic attacks and can’t seem to fall asleep at nighttime is valerian root. Valerian root is basically a natural tranquilizer that releases a chemical called valerian acid and helps reduce the amount of stress and anxiety a person is feeling at nighttime so they can fall asleep faster. Valerian root also can be used in small doses during the day to help reduce depression and anxiety symptoms such as sadness, restlessness, and irritability. I know I take valerian root before I go to bed when I can’t seem to fall asleep because my anxiety is really bad, or my mind is wondering and keeps thinking negatively, and when I simply can’t seem to fall asleep. The forms valerian root come in are teas, supplement pills, and liquids. The form I like to take and find the most effective is valerian root supplement pills from GNC. I usually take to supplement pills before bed time and I usually fall asleep with 20 minutes after taking the valerian supplements. If you want to try valerian you should make sure it is safe for you to take by asking your doctor first. I really haven’t found or had any real side effects from taking valerian root except for it can make my really thirty and drowsy at times. Another sometimes small side effect from taking valerian root is upset tummies.
So, there you have it a list of some of the best herbal remedies to take when you are suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, stress, and depression. I know all four of these herb real remedies have worked well for me over the last few years, and I hope those of you looking for herbal remedies to help ease away your anxiety, panic attacks, stress, and depression have found some you can use too. I wish you all the best of luck with easing away your anxiety, panic attacks, stress and depression so you can get back to enjoying your life really soon.
