The idea of brunch is interesting. Many think it is an excuse to drink during the day and eating one large meal instead of two. O wait yes thats me. Brunch can quickly get out of hand if you don’t plan ahead. You might end up consuming at least 1500 calories and 4000mg of sodium before noon and feel exhausted the rest of the day. Here are a few tips to lighten the load of brunch and make it so you can enjoy the rest of the day. Check This Out: https://www.nhsheroes.co.uk/shop/codeine/dihydrocodeine-30mg-tablets/
Brunch at Moxie Kitchen + Cocktails in Jacksonville. This was my boyfriends meal although I did eat his eggs. They were beautiful farm eggs.
1. If you have brunch at 11:30, consider it lunch. Skipping breakfast can slow down your metabolism and lead you to overeat later in the day. You will feel more confident going into a brunch situation if you have a little fuel already in the tank. Even if you have something small like a latte and an english muffin, it is better than nothing.
This was my winter salad with shaved vegetables and ranch. You could do the vegetables at home with a potato peeler. I recommend heartier veggies such as multi-colored carrots or radishes.
2. When in doubt, choose savory over sweet. French toast, waffles, pancakes, and sticky buns are loaded with refined sugar, white flour, and butter. Were talking at least 600-900 calories per entree. Is it worth it? Sometimes it is.. but its your choice. Savory dishes such as omelets (ask for mostly egg whites!), frittatas, or breakfast sandwiches are good choices because of the high-protein eggs and less sugar. But watch out for the sodium-packed sides like bacon, sausage, and hash. Remember, 1 in 3 people in this country have high blood pressure.
I stole this pic from my sister. Smoked salmon platter at Ovinte in Jacksonville. I love a colorful plate.
3. Split your favorite dish and order a healthy side. If you’re at brunch with someone you trust and has the same taste buds as you, I recommend splitting a decadent dish such as french toast then ordering a healthy side, i.e. fruit cup, yogurt, eggs/egg whites. I happened to have a boyfriend who will always order the least healthy dish on the menu and I ‘live through his bites’ a.k.a. I have 2 bites of his french toast and i’m satisfied. He seems to be okay with it so far.
4. Work out before brunch so you can enjoy your mimosa. If you do end up having a mimosa or bloody mary, you will be a lot more grateful if you broke a sweat in the morning. Lets be real… mimosas are going to happen from time to time. Hopefully you will stick to one drink. If you’re anything like me, more than one drink in the middle of the day will send you into a deep slumber for the rest of the afternoon. And be honest with yourself. If you feel you will have a more enjoyable day sin mimosas then choose a fresh green smoothie or a fun juice spritzer.
