The Truth About Healthy Balanced Diets:
I will be honest-I have never understood the fascination with ‘fad’ diets. I always felt like a person should either eat what they wanted to eat or eat healthy. I guess that it’s just me.
But the fact remains: Millions of Americans, every year, will go on fad diets and/or take weight loss pills. Not only will they not have lasting results, but they will likely do damage to their bodies and have less confidence that they will actually be able to lose weight when it’s all said and done.
This is sad, because Americans are so misguided in all of this. I have found that what is popular is usually not the best thing; in fact, it’s often the worst.
So, what is the solution? What if you truly do want to lose weight and body fat and keep it off? The answer is simply ‘a healthy balanced diet’. Simple, but powerful. Think about it…if you knew that you could finally end your weight loss woes and struggles permanently and feel great about your body and yourself, why would you ever even consider some silly diet or pill? Why would you waste your hard-earned money, time and energy?
A balanced diet is the part of the solution for weight loss and body fat loss. Of course, the other part of the solution is workouts and cardiovascular exercise.
In my newsletters, I go over different nutrients that we need on a daily basis and how many times a day we should all be eating. While the percentage of the nutrients you eat daily depends on your activity level, age and sex, we all need to be consuming the same nutrients over 6 meals a day: 3 small meals and 3 snacks.

If you are like me in the area of nutrition, you don’t know a lot and need some major guidance. Well, that’s why I designed this website. I wanted people to know what to do next in their ‘health’ journey.
So, I review a few different nutrition/diet products on this site. They really aren’t diet products, as much as tools which will give you all the information you need to be on a balanced healthy diet:
-Meal Plans 101-Meal Plans is very affordable, easy to use meal planning software, which helps you plan your meals based on your goals (weight loss, gain or maintenance). They have a data base of 13,339 healthy foods.
-Every Other Day Diet-This is a new book created by Jon Benson. (He is known is the online fitness and nutrition world and has many products.) In it, he and his co-author teach you how to have the most effective healthy diet for fat loss but still cheat on your diet too.
-Simply Eat- This book gives you realistic principles which make any realistic diet successful. It is not a diet book and is not a diet. It is secrets which will help you to maintain a healthy diet and see results.
There are two more books that my friend Jayson (one of the creators of meal Plans 101) is working on and when they are finished I will be sure and post reviews. I am excited about seeing the finished product.
One of the best pieces of advice that I can give as far as sticking to a nutritious diet is to take it slow and one step at a time, or it will become overwhelming. It took me quit some time to retrain myself to eat healthy foods and cut out the crap.
I believe that the tools listed above take out a majority of the guesswork when it comes t nutrition. What appeals to you will depend on your needs and goals. My personal favorite is Meal Plans, because I need help in the area of planning healthy meals, and let’s face it…no one knows exactly how much of what nutrients they need to be consuming daily!
Here’s a piece of philosophical and practical advice: Your body will begin to crave what you give it. Cut out those crappy bad carbohydrates and you will stop craving them, completely, within 6 months! I can promise this, as I have experienced it many times myself. I eat no sweets and little bad carbs.
