Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication (NSAID) that reduces the hormones that cause inflammation and pain. It is used in the treatment pain and inflammation associated with bursitis, gout, tendinitis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and menstrual cramps.
Naproxen have delayed or extended release tablets designed for chronic conditions, for example ankylosing spondylitis or arthritis. They are intended to manage long term pain and will not be effective in treating acute or severe pain.
There is a risk of heart attack or stroke with the use of Naproxen. Symptoms such as numbness, , weakness of the body, slurred speech, chest pain extending to the shoulder and jaw as well as breathing problems are possible side-effects.
