What is Spedra?
Spedra is a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction or ED. Its main ingredient is the chemical compound called avanafil. It’s one of the newest medications released in the market for treating ED. Compared to other ED drugs, Spedra takes a really short time before the user can feel its full effect. Most users have attested that it can take effect in as fast as 15 minutes from intake.
Spedra vs Viagra — what is the difference?
Spedra is composed of the chemical compound Avanafil, while Viagra has Sildenafil. Both drugs basically have the same function and act on the same concept to treat ED: to increase the flow of blood to the penis which results into a harder and more stable erection. Spedra and Viagra’s effect last roughly at the same time. The main difference is that Spedra is more readily absorbed by the body, resulting in a faster reaction.
Erectile Dysfunction—What is It?
Commonly known as impotence, it is a condition on the male physiology that affects the ability to maintain an erection needed in sexual activity.
When a male is sexually aroused, sensory and tactile messages are sent to the brain which reacts by changing hormonal levels in the body. This change relaxes muscle groups and blood vessels around the penis, allowing blood to flow more freely into it. The penis is then engorged resulting to erection.
Cardiovascular issues are the most common cause of erectile dysfunction in males. This affects the blood vessels which play an important role in getting an erection. The cardiovascular system is a complex process and any number of reasons can cause ED.
Erectile dysfunction can also stem from psychological problems especially anxiety and stress since these can affect the brain’s response to sexual stimuli. Psychological issues should be immediately addressed since the initial problem on sexual inability can add more to this concern. Treating psychological problems can pave the way to better treatment of the physiological causes of ED.
How does it work?
Avanafil, the main component of Spedra, belongs to a class of drugs known as PDE-5 (phosphodiesterase type 5) inhibitor. Drugs in this category are used to treat erectile dysfunction.
Spedra works by blocking the enzyme that keeps the muscles around the penis constricted. After the drug successfully stops this enzyme, the muscles around the penis become more relaxed and allow blood vessels to open up and let in more blood resulting in penile erection.
Spedra is an effective treatment for ED since it addresses the most important physiological aspect in achieving an erection. Since it just addresses the physical part of the erection process, the drug won’t necessarily help in increasing sexual desire or arousal.
Taking in Spedra
Prescription recommends taking one (1) tablet of Spedra from 30 minutes up to 1 hour before the sexual activity. Even though some users have confirmed that it can take only 15 minutes to feel the drug’s effect, it’s better to give the body a few more minutes and have it absorb the drug completely.
Spedra can be ingested on either a full or an empty stomach. A heavy meal though can delay the drug’s effect and may take a little longer for it to completely work.
Spedra comes in 50mg, 100mg, and 200mg dosage variants. For first time users, it’s strongly suggested to start with the 100mg dosage to test its effectiveness. If results are desirable and no side effects have been felt, continue using this dosage.
If side effects appear and become too troublesome, decrease the dose to 50mg. Some have claimed to still achieve the same results whilst avoiding undesired effects.
If results from the 100mg dose are unsatisfactory and continue to be after at least 4 times of use, increase the intake to 200mg. If results are still disappointing even after repeated use up to 8 times, immediately stop taking the drug and consult your doctor for further instructions.
If side effects continue to appear even after lowering the dosage intake, see your doctor immediately for other alternative treatments to ED.
