How Champix works:

Most medication available to assist with stopping smoking contains nicotine. Champix has no nicotine.

Nicotine works on receptors in the brain and attaches to them. These receptors send a message and dopamine is released. Dopamine is a feel good chemical, causing feeling of pleasure and relaxation and it is this release that leads to the addiction. The effect of Dopamine is short lived so the body soon craves another cigarette in order to get more dopamine.
